Upon completion of his clerkship he entered the private practice of law as a trial attorney specializing in property & casualty insurance defense litigation. He also served as a volunteer attorney with Support Center for Child Advocates, representing children in abuse and neglect situations in the Philadelphia court system. In conjunction with this award he was recognized by Governor Tom Ridge and Mayor Ed Rendell for his work with at-risk children.
In 2001 Mr. Pearn relocated with his family to Dayton. At that time he decided to make a career change and attended the University of Dayton to obtain his teaching certification. In 2006 he joined the faculty at Dunbar and teaches American Government, Practical Law and World History. He is chair of the Social Studies Department, is advisor to the Mock Trial team and Junior Council on World Affairs and has been a class advisor.
Mr. Pearn is married; his wife is employed as a publications assistant in the School of Education at the University of Dayton. They have two daughters; his youngest daughter is a familiar face at Dunbar, especially at the football & basketball games.
Woody Allen once wrote that his greatest regret in life was that he was not someone else. Mr. Pearn's greatest regret is that he cannot play soccer as well as his daughter. He would also like to know when the Dodgers are returning to Brooklyn.
